Tellurite glass fibers for mid-infrared nonlinear applications

چکیده
In this chapter, we will review the progress of using tellurite glass nonlinear fibers for mid-infrared nonlinear applications in this chapter. First, we introduce various fabrication approaches for making conventional solid core/clad tellurite glass preforms and structured tellurite glass preforms. Second, two technical difficulties have been found during the early stage of using small-core tellurite glass fiber for generating nonlinear supercontinuum into mid-infrared region. Approaches such as glass dehydration and large-mode-area fiber have been developed for solving these problems.

Halo-tellurite glass fiber with low OH content for 2-5µm mid-infrared nonlinear applications.
We report the fabrication of new dehydrated halo-tellurite glass fibers with low OH content (1ppm in weight) and low OH-induced attenuation of 10dB/m in 3-4 µm region. It shows halo-tellurite glass fibers a promising candidate for nonlinear applications in 2-5µm region.

We report our recent progress on fabricating dehydrated tellurite glass fibers. Low OH content (1 ppm in weight) has been achieved in a new halogen-containing lead tellurite glass fiber. Low OH-induced attenuation of 10 dB/m has been confirmed in the range of 3–4 μm using three measurement methods. This shows the dehydrated halo-tellurite glass fiber is a promising candidate for nonlinear appli...
متن کاملMid-infrared supercontinuum generation in suspended core tellurite microstructured optical fibers.
We report the fabrication of a tellurite optical fiber with a suspended core design, formed on a 220-nm-wide filament of glass. The fiber was pumped at two different wavelengths (1500 and 2400 nm) using femtosecond pulses generated from an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) in order to produce mid-infrared supercontinuum (SC). We observed that SC spectra extending to 3 μm were readily generate...
متن کاملMultimaterial disc-to-fiber approach to efficiently produce robust infrared fibers
A critical challenge in the fabrication of chalcogenide-glass infrared optical fibers is the need for first producing large volumes of highpurity glass – a formidable task, particularly in the case of multicomponent glasses. We describe here a procedure based on multimaterial coextrusion of a hybrid glass-polymer preform from which extended lengths of robust infrared fibers are readily drawn. O...

We respond to the comment submitted by Xian Feng on our recent Letter, Opt. Lett.38, 4679 (2013). The comment addressed the attenuation of our oxide tellurite glass labeled TWPN/I/6. We provide the originally measured absorbance spectrum of the glass and correct values of its mid-infrared attenuation.
